Step 1 – Pick your space: We start by looking at where the green will go. Backyard, side yard, rooftop patio, or garage, we’ve worked in all kinds of spaces. We’ll talk through the size and shape that makes sense for the area.

Step 2 – Add Undulation and Breaks: A flat green is fine, but a green with slopes and subtle breaks is where the real practice happens. We can build in contours and breaks that mimic real course conditions. Hole placement matters here too, and a well-placed cup can create interesting challenge lines and multiple play angles.

Step 3 – Install the cups and holes: We use regulation-size cups and can install multiple holes on larger greens. Multiple holes let you practice different distances and angles without moving the cup every time.

Step 4 – Choose your features: This is where the green really comes to life. Common add-ons include:

  • Fringe: A slightly taller turf border around the green that gives you an approach-shot target and a more finished look
  • Chipping Area: A zone designed for chip shots, giving you a short-game practice setup in one space
